noun  mas·sage \mə-ˈsäzh, -ˈsäj\

manipulation of tissues in a way that helps muscles to relax or reduces pain in muscles and joints.

We treat patients from ages 14+, whether they are looking to relieve stress from school or work, to the athlete who is in training for an event, an even retired pro- athletes and bodybuilders. Our massages are helpful for anyone who routinely stretches their physical limits through movement-- Swimmers, weight lifters, runners, golfers, ball players, skaters, dancers, tennis players, musicians, and boxers, as well as “weekend warriors” and those who practice strength training or aerobics!  Select the massage that's right for you and take the first step in bringing your body into balance.

Swedish Massage- Increases oxygen flow in the blood and releases toxins carried in the muscles. This modality of massage shortens recovery time by flushing muscle tissue of lactic and uric acid and other metabolic waste. Can be used with aromatherapy for deeper relaxation.

Deep Tissue- A corrective and therapeutic treatment that focuses on relaxing the deeper layers of the muscle tissue through slower and more intense pressure. Deep tissue massage increases blood flow in the body, reduces inflammation that causes pain, and loosens clusters of tight tissue. Your massage therapist can find the perfect pressure that gives you the most benefit - each session is tailored to your needs!

Deep Tissue Sports Massage- Elongates shortened muscles, tendons, ligaments and fascia and allows them to return to a normal state by allowing blood, lymph and nerve transmission to flow through the area involved. This modality increases blood circulation and restores physical and chemical balance which makes you feel healthier, happier and more energetic. It can bring relief to low back pain, neck pain, osteoarthritis, carpel tunnel, knee problems, slipped discs, hand numbness, headaches, hidden symptoms of scar tissue damage.Focused pressure in the muscles decreases soreness and stiffness leaving the body rejuvenated. When muscles become tight, restricted, and painful due to rigorous athletic training, competitive intensity, and repetitive daily use at work, deep tissue sports massage will provide relief. We incorporate passive stretching, joint mobilization, and the kneading and manipulation of tired and sore muscles, promoting and speeding the recovery of the muscle tissue. Perfect for athletes of all levels from the casual runner to the elite athlete.

Youth Sports Massage- Similar to the Deep Tissue Sports Massage but with a focus on the physiology of a younger, developing body. Many youth athletes train for excessive hours with very little knowledge about proper stretching and the body mechanics necessary in order to avoid injury. This comprehensive program offers techniques that are used as a corrective and therapeutic treatment, and focuses on relaxing the deeper layers of the muscle tissue through slower and more firm pressure, while providing instruction on how to stretch. Youth Sports Massage increases blood flow in the body, reduces inflammation that causes pain, and loosens clusters of tight muscle tissue. We will work with your young athlete to dial in the pressure that gives them the most benefit - each session is tailored to their needs! (** All clients under 18 years of age require a parent/guardian in the room during treatment, NO EXCEPTIONS**)

Trigger Point Therapy- Trigger Points, which are involuntary contractions of a small portion of the muscle due to lack of blood and oxygen, create pain and dysfunction within the muscle. This therapy reduces pain, increases movement, and allows the muscles to lengthen and become stronger again. Firm pressure must be applied to the Trigger Point. Light pressure is not effective for treating Trigger Points, and in fact may increase spasms as the muscle tries to protect itself, leading to increased and more constant pain. In contrast, moderate to heavy pressure applied to a Trigger Point causes the pain to initially increase, but then as the muscle relaxes the pain will fade. After applying pressure to Trigger Points, the relaxed muscle is stretched.

Cupping Therapy- This amazingly efficient tool for treating muscles has made it's way from ancient Eastern cultures to our contemporary world of bodywork. By creating suction and vacuum pressure, cupping is used to soften tight muscles and tone attachments, loosen adhesions and lift connective tissue, bring hydration and blood flow to body tissues, move deep inflammation to the skin surface for release, and drain excess fluids and toxins by opening lymphatic pathways. Cupping may leave marks on the skin in the location where the cups were applied and the toxins were released. There is no cause for alarm, the marks will normally fade away within 3-5 days.

Hot Stone Therapy- A relaxing massage that follows the principle of Swedish massage but incorporates warmed, smooth basalt stones. When applied to the body, the warmth from the hot stones allows for deeper penetration into the muscles using less pressure, decreasing aching muscles and increasing circulation. This therapy is recommended for those suffering from fibromyalgia, arthritis, and other chronic pain.

Stretching Sessions- These sessions incorporate both PNF (proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation) and AIS (active isolated stretching), 2 of the most effective methods of stretching, for increasing flexibility and range of motion. After a quick warming of the muscles, we will take you through a series of movements that will enable you to actively and passively strecth muscles that are hard to reach via massage. These gently stretches will allow your muscles to become more pliable and elongated, leading to more strength and less likelihood of injury.
